The Coral Gables campus houses eight schools and two colleges. The Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine has its own campus that is part of the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center complex in downtown Miami. The Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science is located on Virginia Key in Biscayne Bay. Additionally, other academic programs, including bi-lingual Continuing Education classes, are offered at the Koubek Center in Little Havana.
Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. Forecasters expect a busy storm season, estimating approximately 17 named storms this season, eight or nine of which may become hurricanes. It also is predicted that four to six of the storms may develop into major hurricanes (with sustained winds of 110 miles per hour). This is a good time to review your hurricane plan for your home and your workplace as well as the University's Disaster Plan.
